Romans 7

Or are you ignorant, brethren, for I speak to the ones knowing law, that the law rules over the man as long a time as he lives?

For the married woman has been bound by law to the living husband, but if the husband might die, then she has been idled-down from the law of the husband.

Therefore then, if she might become married to another man while her husband is living, then she will be called an adulteress, but if the husband might die, then she is free from the law, of the result for her not to be an adulteress, having become married to another man.

So that, my brethren, you also were put to death as to the law through the body of Christ, into the purpose for you to become married to another, to the One having been raised out from dead ones, in order that we might bear fruit to God.

For when we were in the flesh, the sufferings of sins, the ones through the law, were working in our members into the purpose to bear fruit to death.

But now we were idled-down from the law, having died in which we were being held down, so that for us to slave in newness of spirit, and not oldness of letter.

Therefore, what will we say? Is the law sin? May it not come to be! But I did not know sin except through law, for I had also not known lust except the law was saying: You will not desire.

But sin, having taken opportunity through the commandment, worked-down in me every lust, for without law sin is dead.

And I myself was living without law once, but the commandment having come, the sin lived again,

and I myself died, and the commandment, the one into life, this was found by me into death,

for sin, having taken an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.

So that, the law indeed is holy and the commandment holy and righteous and good.

Therefore, did the good thing come to be death to me? May it not come to be! But sin, in order that it might appear sin, working-down death to me through the good thing, in order that the sin might become sinful, according to excess through the commandment.

For we know that the law is spiritual, but I myself am fleshly, sold under sin.

For that which I work-down, I do not know, for that which I desire, this I do not practice, but that which I hate, this I do.

But, since that which I do not desire, this I do, then I agree with the law that it is good.

But, now I myself no longer work it down, but the sin dwelling in me.

For I know that the good thing does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh, for the result to desire is present with me, but the result to work-down the good thing is not.

For I do not do the good thing which I desire, but the evil thing which I do not desire, this I practice.

But, since that which I do not desire, this I do, then I myself no longer work it down, but sin dwelling in me.

I find then the law that the evil thing is present with me, the one desiring me to do the good thing.

For I rejoice together with the law of God according to the inner man,

but, I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and capturing me in the law of sin, the one being in my members.

I am a wretched man! Who will rescue me out from the body of this death?

But grace to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore then, on the one hand, I myself with the mind slave to the law of God, but with the flesh, to the law of sin.
