Generation-of-Jesus-Christ

14 Generation x 3 = 42 Generations?

Mat.1:17 “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.”

At first glance it appears to be 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus. Looking more carefully at the wording, David gets counted twice and so does Josias. Jesus is not counted because this is leading up to His birth.
