st Corinthians 1

Paul, a called apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

to the assembly of the God, the one being in Corinth, sanctified in Christ Jesus, called holy ones, with all the ones calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, theirs and ours.

Grace to you all and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

I give thanks to my God always concerning you, upon the grace of God having been given to you in Christ Jesus.

Because in every thing you were enriched in Him, in all word and all knowledge,

just as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,

so that you not to fall short in not even one gift, awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who also will confirm you until the end without reproach in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God is faithful, through Whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

And I exhort you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, in order that you all might say the same thing, and there might not be divisions among you, but that you might be restored in the same mind and in the same thought.

For it was clarified to me concerning you, my brethren, by the ones of Chloe, that there are strifes among you.

And I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” and “I am of Apollos,” and “I am of Cephas,” and “I am of Christ.”

Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified on behalf of you, was he? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

I give thanks [[to God]] that I baptized not even one of you, except Crispus and Gaius,

in order that a certain one not say that you were baptized into my name.

And I baptized also the house of Stephanas; further, I do not know if I baptized any other.

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach, not in wisdom of word, in order that the cross of the Christ might not be made void.

For the word of the cross, on the one hand, is foolishness to the ones perishing, but on the other hand, to us, the ones being saved, it is power of God.

For it has been written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the understanding of the ones understanding I will set aside.

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Did not God make foolish the wisdom of the world?

For since in the wisdom of God the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save the ones believing,

and since the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom;

but we preach Christ crucified, on the one hand to the Jews an offense, but on the other hand, to the nations foolishness;

but to them, to the ones called both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise ones according to the flesh, not many able ones, not many noble ones, are chosen;

but God chose the foolish things of the world, in order that He might put to shame the wise ones, and God chose the weak things of the world, in order that He might put to shame the strong things,

and God chose the base things of the world, and the things despised, the things not being, in order that He might idle-down the things being;

so that all flesh might not boast before God.

But out from Him you are in Christ Jesus, Who came to be wisdom to us from God, righteousness, and both sanctification and redemption;

in order that, just as it has been written: The one boasting, let him boast in the Lord.
